The perfect solution for the small business owner.
Easily organize your Schedule C deductions, with your information staying right where it belongs — on your own device.
You're not running a multi-million dollar company (not yet anyway!), so why does every tool act like you are?
If you file Schedule C, you don't need a general ledger, double-entry bookkeeping, payroll modules, or a monthly SaaS bill. You need to answer four questions at tax time.
- 01 What did I spend, and on what?
- 02 Which Schedule C line does it belong on?
- 03 What's deductible after the rate that applies?
- 04 Where's the receipt?
General accounting software buries those answers under features you'll never touch. Spreadsheets lose the receipts. Schedule C Expense Tracker does exactly this job — and stops there.
We built the tracker we wished we had.
Taxes are a headache, and small business owners need tools that are simple and just work. So we built a focused expense tracker around IRS Schedule C (Form 1040), for the sole proprietors and single-member LLCs who file on a cash basis.
We don't think you should have to hand your financials to a big company that charges every month to hold onto them. No accounts, no ads, no cloud, no subscriptions — just one HTML file that runs in your browser, on your own device.
Map every business expense as you go, and walk into tax season ready. It's purpose-built and deliberately focused: everything you need to track deductions cleanly, and nothing you don't.
Built by a small business owner, for others who want to get organized without wrestling complicated accounting software, or paying monthly for the privilege.
Log an expense — we handle the deduction math.
Add an expense and pick from all 22 Schedule C categories — Advertising through Business Use of Home. We work out the deductible amount for you, with two simple controls to get it exactly right.
Business use, per expense
Some things you use for both work and life — a cell phone, say. Set the business-use percentage — enter 70 for 70% — and we prorate the deduction, flagging partial-use rows so they stand out.
An IRS deductible cap, set once
Some expenses — meals are the classic case — are only deductible up to a percentage the IRS sets. Set that cap once in Settings and we apply it automatically, on top of business use, with no per-entry math. When the rate changes, update one setting and new entries follow.
Because the two controls are independent, an expense that's both partial-business and capped comes out right without you doing any multiplication. Made a mistake? Void an entry instead of deleting it — the record stays intact — and restore it whenever you like.
Know exactly what you've already filed
Doing your taxes yourself? Every row has an On Return checkbox. As you enter each expense into your tax software, tick it off here — the row turns green, so you never double-count or miss one.
Summary cards give you the big picture — your total for each Schedule C category at a glance, with progress bars that show how much you've recorded versus what's left.
A receipt library that travels with your data
Attach one or more receipts to any expense — images or PDFs, stored right on your device. Never lose a receipt or dig through a shoebox again.

Every file is named so it's recognizable on sight and never collides inside a backup. PDFs preview inline, and a paperclip on each row shows how many receipts are attached.
Run more than one venture? Switch in a click.
We live in an era of side gigs and startups. Run more than one business? Each one keeps its own expenses, vendors, and years, fully separate — and switching between them takes a single click.
A shared vendor list lets you reuse common payees — Amazon, USPS, your landlord — across businesses, and renaming one updates it everywhere. Each tax year is stored on its own, so your past years stay put.
Export, back up, and walk away whenever you want
- CSV — clean and spreadsheet-ready, and you can re-import it later without creating duplicates.
- Year backup — a sealed .spbckup file holding one business's expenses and receipts for a single tax year.
- Full data archive — one sealed file capturing every business, year, expense, vendor, and receipt, for safekeeping.
- PDF — a clean, CPA-ready PDF straight from your browser's print dialog, or a hardcopy to your printer.
- Markdown report — a readable per-category summary to drop into any editor.
- HTML report — a self-contained file to hand your CPA, or anyone reviewing your numbers; turn on Include receipts and it bundles them into a .zip, sorted by Schedule C line.
A restore checks the file is complete before it touches your data. Nothing is ever locked inside a proprietary cloud — your records are always yours to take.
Easy exports, even with receipts!
Turn on Include receipts when you export the HTML report, and every receipt comes bundled inside the .zip — sorted into a folder for each Schedule C line. Your CPA opens it and finds everything in IRS line order, no spreadsheet cross-referencing required.
